Our Story

A full and diverse career, spanning twenty-three years in HM Forces, has given Chris an unparalleled knowledge of firearms in action. After a further two years abroad in private security, he returned to start a family and put his skills to work as an apprentice gunsmith.

After being awarded a bursary from the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, he completed a five-year apprenticeship with Paul Barber, a highly experienced specialist in old English guns. Chris set up Lucas & Watts with his wife at their home in Grosmont, Monmouthshire.

Chris offers friendly one-to-one tutoring on shooting weapons to help clients achieve optimum results and safety in the field.

I have trusted Chris with my shotguns and rifles for many years and have always been delighted with his work, be it general servicing or complex modifications, he always delivers an outstanding result! Chris’ wise counsel is also very welcome, he is a very experienced game shooter and perfectly understands the needs of the community.
